Hello loyal paid subscribers!
It is almost March already, which is insane to me because I am still mentally in 2021 and also because it has been feeling like late spring in the mid Atlantic region lately. As I approach 25, the years are starting to blend together for me. Is this what all of adulthood feels like? It’s got me thinking I need to invest in a copy of “Quarterlife.”
Speaking of, I’ve been trying to read more books this year. Reading was my first love and historically it is the activity that makes me feel most myself, but I got out of the habit after college because I was so burned out
Last year I set a (modest) goal to read 15 books; I made sure to make it reachable and tried to read a mix of fun, breezy texts and more complex, “literary” texts to both get myself back into the swing of it and challenge myself. It worked, and so this year I upped the ante and set my 2023 reading goal at 50 books.
So far I’m at six – a bit behind where I wanted to be at this point, but I have plenty of time to catch up. I’m also not just not trying to prioritize quantity over everything - reading more often is important to me, but not just because I want to get to a certain metric.
